This lesson was for my Kindergarten practicum class. It was a language arts lesson that was heavily based on social studies as well. Students came from a previous lesson I did with them about the Metis spoons and in this lesson, they learned about the Metis sash, what it was used for, and the importance of the colours in Metis culture. After learning about the Metis sash and what the colours represented for Metis people, students reflected on their own symbolism for each colour and created a sheet representing their own colour symbolism.
