East Kootenay Regional Specialist Association Day 2025
Attending the East Kootenay RSA Day was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with educators from across the region. The keynote speaker offered an engaging and thought-provoking talk on the ethical use of AI in education, sparking curiosity and deep reflection on how technology is shaping the classroom. I also had the privilege of attending a session titled Big Words for Young Learners led by Erin Jones, SD#5’s literacy support teacher. This session provided practical strategies to help young learners decode and understand complex vocabulary. I found this session incredibly valuable, as I am passionate about literacy and committed to growing my expertise in this area to better support my students.

Make Math Moments Virtual Summit 2024

At the Make Math Moments Virtual Summit 2024, I attended sessions on Elevating Numeracy Through Play, Implementing “Doing-Math” Tasks, and Using Base 10 Blocks in Early Elementary, gaining valuable strategies from passionate educators committed to making math accessible for all learners.
Crisis Prevention Institute- Reframing Behaviour (SD#5 Pro-D Day)
The Neuroscience-Based Training for Educators was an eye-opening professional development day that helped me reframe student behaviour through the lens of neuroscience, allowing me to recognize my own biases and create a more positive, supportive learning environment.

Dance Pl3y

The Dance Pl3y training with Roxane Letterlough was a transformative start to my BEd journey, introducing me to Indigenous Dance Pl3y and giving me the confidence to incorporate it into my physical education teachings.
