Hi! My name is Kyra Doehle I am a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) student at TRU. I want to first acknowledge that I am pursuing my degree on the unceded and never surrendered territory of the Tk’eml ú ps te Secwépemc within Secwepemcúl’ecw. I am honoured to be able to learn and live on this beautiful land and acknowledge that as a future educator I have a special responsibility to further educate myself and my students on maintaining respectful stewardship of the land, and the steps we can take to get closer to decolonization and reconciliation. I can do this by continuing to Indigenize my practice by incorporating Indigenous epistemologies, pedagogies, and ontologies.
